TIPS #11
BY LUCA TEAM

Maybe your holiday plans got turned upside down? Perhaps you will be leaving less far or for a shorter time than planned?

LUCA invites you to (re-) discover the Greater Region with some of its architectural destinations we often pass by without taking care. So, let's give ourselves a little more time to explore some unsuspected and yet so close heritages. Whether you have half a day or more, the time for a round trip or a stopover, here are our "trip-tips"!

FOR KIDS #10
TEXTURE HUNT

Prepare your texture hunt kit: a paper block and some wax crayons. Put them in your backpack and let’s find out how many different materials there are in your city!

Usually, when we walk around the city, we don’t pay so much attention to what there is around us. We are very focused on reaching our destination and not on the journey. Have you ever noticed how many different materials there are all around you during your walks?

Instructions for kids in English and French. This activity has been developed by the LUCA team.

LECTURE #13
CINO ZUCCHI: ITALY. A CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE

During this lecture, Cino Zucchi – founder of CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti - presents a selection of projects, such as the Keski Pasila masterplan in Helsinki, the ex Alfa Romeo-Portello in Milan, the former industrial areas of the ex-Junghans in Venice or the National Automobile Museum in Turin. The office goal is to combine innovation and research with professional completeness, capable of responding to complex programs at any scale.

This conference took place in Luxembourg on 26 March 2015, and it was organized by LUCA in collaboration with the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Italy.

In English (subtitles available).

SKETCHING #4
SESSION REVIEW

WE SKETCHED WITH SOSTHENE WEIS

About fifteen cartoonists met on Saturday 18 July for the fourth virtual drawing session which allowed us to discover Luxembourg as seen by the talented architect and painter Sosthène Weis.

No holidays yet for our friend Arnaud De Meyer who introduced us to the work of one of the greatest Luxemburgish watercolourists, Sosthène Weis. Architect and (prolific) painter, he produced around 450 watercolours representing mainly the city of Luxembourg and its suburbs.

See you at the next session!
